We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Dylan back to the team for a few days of work experience over the school holidays.

Dylan first joined us last year through his work experience program with Miami State High School, and after seeing his interest and positive attitude on site, we were glad to invite him back for some additional hands-on experience. It was great to see he was just as keen to return and continue learning.

During his time with us, Dylan worked alongside our surveyors on site, gaining further insight into the day-to-day work involved in surveying. He assisted with a contour and detail survey, learning how we use GPS equipment to measure a permanent survey mark and relate our work to the Australian Height Datum – an important step in ensuring accuracy across all projects.

He also got involved in set-out work, helping to spray-paint pin markings to show the direction of a concrete slab. This helps guide concreters and other trades on site and ensures everything is constructed in the correct position.

What stood out most was Dylan’s willingness to get involved and build on what he learned previously. It’s always rewarding to support young people who show genuine interest in the industry, and experiences like this highlight the importance of creating those opportunities.

We appreciate Dylan taking the time to come back out with us and look forward to seeing where his future takes him.
