Yesterday, Jess from our office team swapped her desk for a day out on site with our surveying team to learn how a house setout is carried out.
The process starts with a resection, using established control marks to set up the surveying equipment and take accurate measurements. Before setting out the house, an independent check is completed against a known boundary peg to confirm everything is matching up as it should.
Once the setup has been checked, the surveyor can begin marking out each point of the house in accordance with the approved building plans.
By the end of the job, all the required points have been marked on the ground, leaving the site ready for the next tradie to come in and get to work.
It was a great opportunity for Jess to get out of the office, learn more about the technical side of surveying and see first-hand the precision that goes into getting a building project started on the right foot.
A big thanks to Nathan for showing her the ropes!
