Mermaid Sanctuary is a project that holds a special place in our history here at Arnold Development Consultants.
Located on the shores of Lake Wonderland in Mermaid Waters, this beautiful waterfront community has recently been delivered by SKF Developments – and we were very proud to be involved as the Consulting Land Surveyors. What makes this project particularly meaningful for us is that our team actually surveyed and subdivided Mermaid Waters Estate, now known as the Gold Coast Suburb of Mermaid Waters, QLD, 4218. From Hooker Blvd & Pacific Fair in the north, the Gold Coast Hwy in the east, Rio Vista Blvd in the west and McIlwain Drive in the south, Arnold Development Consultants are proud to have delivered Mermaid Waters. To return more than 40 years later and support the final stage of Mermaid Waters has been both an honour and a full-circle moment.
The site itself carries a strong local legacy. It was the longtime home of respected engineer and philanthropist Jock McIlwain OAM and his wife, Beverley. The development team approached the project with a shared understanding of how important this history is to the community. The planning and design of Mermaid Sanctuary were guided by a desire to respect the family legacy, maintain the relaxed coastal character of Mermaid Waters, and create a neighbourhood that feels welcoming, connected and calm.
Working collaboratively with SKF Developments, our role included cadastral surveying, subdivision surveying and ongoing support throughout the planning process. We value relationships that span time, trust and shared vision – and this project reflects exactly that.
Mermaid Sanctuary now offers a rare opportunity to build a waterfront home in one of the Gold Coast’s most loved coastal communities. With its peaceful outlook and easy connection to the beaches and lifestyle of Mermaid Waters, it’s a place that will continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.
Arnolds are grateful to have played our part in both Mermaid Waters beginning and its eventual conclusion with Mermaid Sanctuary.
