This week, we had the pleasure of hosting Dylan, a Year 9 student from Miami State High School, for his school’s work experience program. Dylan is already showing a strong interest in building a future in Land Surveying, and we were excited to give him a hands-on introduction to what the industry is all about.

Across three days (Monday to Wednesday), Dylan worked closely with our Surveyor, Nathan, accompanying him to a range of sites and observing various components of setout work. From the moment he arrived, Dylan showed curiosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to learn how surveying contributes to construction and development.

Nathan provided glowing feedback, sharing that Dylan was a capable young man who listens carefully, absorbs new information quickly, and isn’t afraid to give things a go. By Wednesday, Nathan could ask him technical questions and Dylan was able to answer confidently — a great reflection of his work ethic and natural aptitude.

We also captured a few photos of Dylan out on site, including one of him staking out the edge of a concrete slab — a fantastic snapshot of him getting involved and gaining meaningful hands-on experience.

It’s always rewarding to see young people exploring potential career pathways, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping students understand where a career in surveying can take them. We wish Dylan all the very best in his studies, and we hope this week has helped spark even more interest in the surveying profession.

Thanks for joining us, Dylan!
